Seychelles : Patrick Herminie Sets Up Emergency Committee Amid Middle East Crisis
In response to the crisis in the Middle East, Seychelles President Patrick Herminie has established an emergency committee to secure fuel reserves and essential goods. To offset a 40% decline in tourism caused by reduced international flights, Air Seychelles has launched new routes to Europe. In his April 10, 2026 address, he stressed the importance of preparing the population for ongoing economic shocks. At the same time, the repatriation of 140 citizens was organized to ensure their safety. These measures are intended to protect purchasing power and maintain the archipelago’s macroeconomic stability.
