Kenya : High Court Upholds the Impeachment of Deputy President Gachagua

Kenya’s High Court has upheld the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, which was approved by Parliament in October 2024. However, the judges ruled that his right to a fair hearing had been violated, as the Senate proceedings took place while he was hospitalized. The Court ordered that Mr. Gachagua be awarded $386,500 in compensation and confirmed the appointment of Kithure Kindiki as Deputy President.
