Nigeria: signing of a memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation with Cameroon

Cameroon and Nigeria signed, on 16 June 2026 in Yaoundé, a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening defense cooperation in response to persistent security threats along their shared border, which is about 1,700 km long. The agreement, signed by Joseph Beti Assomo and Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff Christopher Gwabin Musa, provides for enhanced intelligence sharing and closer operational coordination.
