Benin: Patrice Talon Elected President of the Senate for a Five-Year Term

President Alassane Ouattara has granted clemency to 4,661 common-law prisoners. Of these, 2,064 have received full pardons, while 2,597 have benefited from sentence reductions. The measure concerns people convicted of minor offenses and aims to reduce prison overcrowding.
