Africa: U.S. Lifts Restrictions on Ships from Nigeria

The United States has lifted additional security restrictions imposed since 2014 on vessels that had called at certain Nigerian ports before arriving in the United States. Washington considers that Nigeria now meets U.S. maritime security requirements. The decision is expected to reduce additional inspections and the risk of delays for operators, while strengthening international recognition of Nigerian ports.
