Chad : state of emergency declared in Lac Province
The Chadian government has declared a state of emergency in Lac Province for twenty days, starting on May 7, 2026, in response to a surge in attacks attributed to Boko Haram. The decision follows deadly assaults on May 4 and 6 against the Barka Tolorom military base. During this period, local authorities are granted expanded powers to strengthen security under government supervision. Any violation of the measures in force will be sanctioned, and the arrangement will automatically end after the twenty-day period.
