South Africa : President Ramaphosa promises a crackdown on xenophobic groups

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa announced on Sunday measures against groups involved in xenophobic violence, as anti-immigrant protests disrupt the country and lead to the repatriation of foreign nationals. He condemned any attempt to exploit tensions related to immigration and stressed that law enforcement is the exclusive responsibility of the state, while warning against violence and illegal street patrols.
