Senegal : President refers constitutional reform to the Constitutional Council

Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has referred the constitutional reform adopted on June 29 to the Constitutional Council, challenging the procedure that led to its adoption. He has requested an urgent review of the text, which amends 29 articles of the Constitution, including provisions to rebalance institutional powers. The reform, backed by the parliamentary majority, continues to face strong opposition from political parties and civil society.
