Africa : European Union Bans Imports of Gold from Sudan

The European Union has banned imports of gold from Sudan in a bid to cut off funding for the parties involved in the country’s civil war. The new sanctions target revenues generated from gold mining by the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
